Today is World Television Day and it is a celebration of the impact television has on our world. This day was created in 1996 and marks the anniversary of the first World Television Forum where leaders gathered to discuss the growing significance of television in our daily lives.

To celebrate, here are some fun facts about television that surprised me so I thought I would share…

📺️The word "television" was first coined way back in 1900

📺️The first ever TV commercial was for a watch company in 1941 and only cost $9

📺️Over 600 million people tuned in to watch the moon landing in 1969

Watching television is one of my favourite ways to chill out and relax and some of my favourite tv shows are…

📺️Derry Girls

📺️Broad City

📺️Motherland

📺️Criminal Minds

📺️ Law & Order SVU

What are some of your favourite television shows? Do you have any good recommendations😊

I love Motherland too. I wasn't expecting to like the spin-off Amandaland but thought it was just as fun.

I just recently watched Leonard and Hungry Paul on BBC iPlayer. It's a slightly weird little love story but quite sweet and the episodes are only 30 mins. I'd recommend that to anyone who likes quirky stories.

Other series I've enjoyed have been the earlier seasons of Grey's Anatomy and Gilmore Girls (very standard viewing for lots of women my age 😂)

I'm always looking for new things to watch so I'll be keeping an eye on this post to gather some more recommendations!
