Is your MP a member of the Labour Growth Group?

Hi folks,

Just discovered this and wanted to bring it to your attention. The latest about the budget is that they're still toying with the idea of welfare cuts, despite the vote last April. By the sound of it the main target at the moment is the young, all those NEETS, but it would pay for the rest of us to keep an eye on things once the Timms review has been announced.

What's significant is that the NEETS are being "reviewed" by Alan Millburn, the ultra-right MP who worked under Blair to introduce private health care into the NHS. You only have to follow what he did after politics to see his true motivations, yep working in cushy roles in various private health care providers.

Millburn no doubt has influence with the Labour Growth Group. Who, you ask? Yep, turns out they're many of the fast-track promoted MPs swarming around Starmer. One of the main players is dear old Torsten Bell, who once mascaraded as veering towards socialism but now likes to parrot phrases like "the Labour Party: the clue's in the name", said during the welfare debate when he was advocating cuts.

And now, the Labour Growth Group are saying there should be £20 billion of welfare cuts - yep you read that right. No taxes for the super-rich, let's bash the poor again.

Is your MP a member of this group? Here's a list of the main players:

And if you'd like to read the gory details, here's a good article:

Seems to me their policies are no different to the Tories.

    Hi everyone : )

Good to hear from you Nightcity, hope all is ok?

Your question Cath: yep heard it on the radio this afternoon, they are scrapping the 2-child cap but not increasing the total benefit you can claim. I don't know whether that would include PIP payments or not, I guess we'll have to wait for the outcome of the Timms review.

But lifting the 2-child cap means an extra £3500 per year for each kid, so hopefully a step in the right direction.
