Hi Everyone,

Im hoping to get some advice about benefits.

Im claiming carers allowance as im a full time carer for my daughter, im getting carers allowance and universal credit.

I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia this year and I have depression, ive been told to claim pip and tell uc,but im not sure how or what to claim.

Im anxious that if I tell them how bad I can get with fibro they may think I can't look after my daughter, but I can manage that although its very difficult at times, any advice would be greaty appreciated

Thank you

my mum is not only my carer but my appointee, she is on dialysis at home 4 days a week, has a heart problem and also osteoporosis and like yourself fibromyalgia.

The DWP don't care as long as you're still happy to do and YOU feel capable of doing the role so I hope that puts your mind at rest and you'll also be entitled to lcwra like anyone else she gets PIP, UC LCWRA and carers allowance.

you're very welcome and I'm glad you feel a bit better.

I hope you get all you are entitled to, and stay as well as possible.

Hi @welshlady71. I have the same conditions and have 2 children and I can promise you they will not think you can't look after your daughter. I'm sure, just like me, you adapt what you do with her to suit your pain levels each day, and you'll be doing a great job.

    Here's a link to start claiming PIP - https://www.gov.uk/pip/how-to-claim
