Question about the bank account checks.

When they check claimant's bank accounts, what are they actually looking for? I've seen stories online where you are interrogated about every single purchase and every penny that comes in. If they do this, do you have to answer?

Yes you need to answer any questions you are asked I'm afraid.
They'll be looking for things like undeclared income, deprivation of capital etc.
Everyone's experience seems to vary.
