JuJust because we have disabilities let nothing stop us.

Surely that is 'ableism". I can scarcely walk. I'm never going to enter a marathon. I can scarcely use my upper limbs. I'm never going to do my own window-cleaning. If disability didn't stop us from living normally we wouldn't need disability benefitsโฆ but most people here need them to get through Life.

I have illnesses that are energy limiting cause chronic pain and limit me standing for long. They do stop me doing things and are classed as disabilities. Not everyone can push through I'm afraid. It is upsetting when anyone tells me to not let anything stop me because if I did that I would get more and more limiting. It is nice to encourage people but please remember that we are not all in the same boat. Glad you are in a position where you are able to not let anything stop you.

A warm welcome to the community @hagan67 ๐
It's lovely to have you here and I hope you enjoy your time on the forum!0 -
Chris, you've mentioned your disability and your use of a power-chair, etc. You make the most of life and good on you but there must be things your condition stops you doing. Reform UK, GB News, etc could speak exactly like the OP. I think all of us try our utmost but are hindered to a greater or lesser degree.

I have no friends and never go anywhere except out with Gus. I certainly don't want to sit wallowing in misery about the unfairness of it all. Imagine being disabled in Gaza or Sudan?

I doubt many very disabled people are alive in Gaza now or, indeed, other war zones. I don't know whether you want friends or not but you're appreciated here.

I'm sure you can agree that what we want, it varies wildly from what we can have. I just can't see any sense in shrinking my world any further than this 1 bedroom house.
I try not to think too much about it, quite frankly.

I get what you're saying, but saying that publically when you don't know people is abit narrow minded. Depending on what disabilities a person has, as some will literally stop you from doing things.
You're more or less assuming everyone is the same and can just get on with their life.
I get you had good intensions but just be wary that not everyone is the same, or in the same boat.
