Paper Assessment

Yes, please let us know the outcome and I am sure it will be good news. I think the sheer volume of reviews and new claimants makes it hard to make the process stress free currently.

I have literally just received the letter, and my award has stayed the same, but only until November 28. I was so convinced my car would be taken away, which is the only little bit of independence I have, but thank God it hasn't.
So, my timeline is as follows: in August, they sent the renewal forms. (Award not due to run out until April 26). I asked for an extension, as by the time they came out of the blue, there were only a couple of weeks to send them back, and I needed to gather evidence. I sent them back in October, around the 8th or something.
They sent me a text on the 13th Oct to say they had received them and I might need an assessment. On Wednesday, November 26th, they sent a text to say they had made their decision, which was paper-based, and that also surprised me.
Today, December 2 2025, I have received their letter with the entitlement, it was signed by the Office Manager. (not sure who signed the last entitledment) It also said at the end of the letter that things might change. I doubt that. I am riddled with arthiritis, which is in my feet, spine, knees and hands, not to mention all of my ailments that impact my life daily, especially my CPTSD.Anyway, I can breathe again for another year or two, and I can't thank you Guys enough for being there as advocates. @rubin16 And thanks to Kimmi, Watermelon and Rachel. Hope I haven't left anyone out.

Excellent news and thank you! My "calculated" outcome of your award was correct! I knew it was! Relax now. Should have been a longer award and you can challenge that, but I probably wouldn't. Well done!

Thanks, and you kept me positive! Just glad I didn't have to go through the ordeal of an assessment, so I am grateful for that, even if it is quite a short award.

Happy that I did keep you positive, thanks!

Hello wkd, I'm so happy you got the result you deserved, you can relax, and yes I agree with Trevor pip, it should of been longer!
Hope your keeping well, take care ๐

Thanks! :)

Something that perhaps some of our members do not know; you can challenge the length of your award alone without jeapordising your current award. So I disagree with @Trevor_PIP on that count. You can appeal about the length of your award whilst stating you are otherwise happy with your current award, which should be made clear, so you're 'just' disputing the length of that alone.

That's interesting. How long do you have to challenge it? I probably won't, though, as I am not in a great place with my mental health; it has taken me days to speak with my bank. I think I did read that starting next year, PIP awards would be for longer. I think I read that, or perhaps I misread it. Thanks for letting me know, it's really helpful for everyone on the forum.

You can do a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) at any time so long as it's within 13 months from the date on your decision letter. You have to say why you're requesting a MR late if doing so longer than 1 month from the date on your decision letter, but struggling with your health is reason enough.

Thank you SO much!! I am really suffering right now. I keep having neighbour problems; every place I go, it seems to be another problem. I was attacked a couple of years ago, it went to court, and he was found guilty. I am going through similar things now. I have just had an ocular migraine through sheer anxiety, so challenging PIP and the government's contempt for people who suffer through health is the last thing I need. I might challenge it, though, when I am in a better place.

Hi @wkd - I'm so sorry to read what you've gone through. I have appreciated your updates about PIP, & hope you find a better place soon. If you don't challenge the length of your award, then at least remember this for a 'thankfully in the future' PIP claim. Wishing you all the best.

I am so appreciative that they didn't put me through another assessment. I hear they are changing the awards' length next year, but mine was too early to qualify. I reach pension age a couple of years after the next assessment.
In all honesty, I would prefer a miraculous healing rather than go through this again. I remember my late mum telling me that when I was a baby in the 60s, she had just gone through a divorce from my dad. She rented a place, and to qualify for social security, they came around to the flat to inspect it. She told me that they stripped her bed to make sure no man had been living there or in her bed. I don't feel we are far from that now, and we live in the year 2025. It's abhorrent behaviour from the government, the government that is so corrupt and hides vast sums of unpaid taxes. Go figure!0
