Disability and additional heating costs
Hello everyone! I hope you are well and able to keep warm enough.
I wish those people who have the power to reduce heating costs, for those of us who have a disability,
would ‘walk a mile in our shoes’. Not literally of course as few of us are able to walk a mile even if we wanted to! Those of us who are housebound are constantly worried about keeping ourselves well and warm whilst struggling not to end up with bills we cannot afford to pay. People able to work away from their home take it for granted, and have legal rights ensuring that their work environment is comfortably warm. Our work is ‘our daily life’ but there is no protection for us. Many of us have mobility difficulties and suffer additional pain if we are not warm enough. Warmth is a common human need and fundamental to a healthy life for disabled people.
It is a sick society that neglects the needs of its most vulnerable members. We shouldn’t need to ask for reduced charges for power, gas, heating oil etc, however, it seems we have to BEG for appropriate consideration. Please hear us,!!!!!!!!!!!!!
