this new law is utterly draconian and terrifying and will have an even greater impact than digital ID - initially, I had thought that it only applied to those on benefits and/or living in council properties, but I later discovered that it applies to everyone living in the U.K., even if they have never claimed benefits in their lives, nor have ever lived in council properties - along with digital ID, it would certainly look as though this is a prelude to the CCP style social credit system and/or the Maid programme in Canada

I agree but I didnt know it applied to everyone god im preying someone takes them to court over this 8.9 million in this country I know big brother watch was trying to stop this obviously not I agree might as well be Digital ID theu can look stop take money at anytime they been blinding people with so much chaos whilst slipping everything through do you think they will be legally challenged god I hope so it starts from April 2026 someone said they will question gifts and everything

You might be referring to this point @Catherine21
"Some of the powers which DWP relies on to investigate fraud are over 20 years old –DWP needs to keep pace with offenders who exploit the social security system and improve access to information."
This doesn't mean they'll go back 20 years, it means their processes are 20 years old and need modernising.

If you have any more questions just ask @Catherine21. I'd rather you didn't get worried about it 😊

For reassurance, it states:
"The powers will not give DWP access to any claimants’ bank accounts, nor any information on how claimants spend their money."

I was so shocked when I came back looking forward to seeing some people again including him and that was the very first post I saw, still hard to take in.
He really did bring such a unique irreplaceable spirit and personality to this place.

You're most welcome. Sorry to ask, but what's happened to Albus? I haven't been on for a while. xx

@HappyDays62, unfortunately he passed away suddenly after a short illness.

we should ALL be VERY worried about this and should be resisting this anti-human law as much as possible - the U.K. was historically built on Christian ethical and moral principles and this draconian law goes against the foundational principles of a supposedly compassionate and caring Christian society that the U.K. proports to be, as is the rest of European nations - it goes to the very heart of Christ’s moral teachings which also marks out the British sense of fairness
