Travelodge, below standard disabled accommodation
Has anyone else had issues with Travelodge. They have kept my money for a room I could not sleep in because of the damp and mouldy condition. They did not help me find something else, despite agreeing the room was **** standard. They said they could not give me a refund at the hotel, I had to go through customer services. 230 miles from home after 4 hr drive. I feel we are being taken advantage of. Has anyone else had this experience?

Hi @pwhite and a warm welcome to the community from me!
Sorry to hear this has happened, have you made a complaint?1 -
Don't start me on Travelodge! Have had almost full refunds on 2 separate occasions now in 2 different Travelodges due to a catalogue of failures and poor practice. I won't bore people with all of it but the one that is most serious from a disability point of view is the very very low number of poorly trained staff who appear to be on duty, especially overnight.
We stayed at the Brent Cross one last year and due to loads of issues with the rooms they then allocated the PA a room on the other side of the fire doors (which were of course open at that time). I had to point out that in the event of a fire they would close automatically and so the PA would be on the other side from the disabled person! The sole member of staff on duty had no idea that this was what fire doors would do and I had to point out to her the mechanism on the top of the door that would be triggered…
How they would actually manage safe evacuation of that hotel in the event of a fire at night I do not know…

@Mary_Scope. I have complained twice, they are standing by the partial refund. I think i may have to issue court proceedings. It's a scam that's obviously working for them. Sell rooms. No matter what the condition, don't give money back

Sorry this happened to you. In my case the staff agreed the room was substandard and did nothing whatsoever to help with my situation. The fact they are only offering a partial refund, what a great scam they are carrying off

We generally use Premier Inn - never had any issues with them…

I would agree with that, in my case, at least up until 2018. (Never stayed overnight anywhere since then).
