Are people losing the right to motability?
Hi all
After the recent budget is it true ppl with mental health and addiction etc will lose the right to be able to hire a vehicle through motability. Is anyone worried about this as this is what I am hearing.

@mags1234 There was nothing in the budget about anyone losing their Motobility cars. There are no plans to change PIP until the PIP investigations and reports are complete in Autumn 2026.
Looked into this, it is from the Conservatives - a call for and pledge for it to be carried out. Dated - 8th December 2025

Providing you get the required points, you can still get motability.

Hi @mags1234, as others have said, Motability is still tied to PIP. If you're eligible for the higher rate of mobility on PIP, you'll still be eligible for a car should you need it. This is true no matter what your disability is as long as you have scored the points required for the higher mobility component. Motability have some guides to things that were discussed during the Autumn Budget:
Unfortunately, we won't know what will change with the PIP process until the Timms review is finished next year. But for now, everything is remaining the same with PIP and we'll keep an eye out for any news.
