GP Query
Hi, can anyone confirm if this is now normal practise.
I was involved in a serious RTC 2 years ago now, my GP has been prescribing amptyline for nerve damage to my leg. Unfortunately the drug didn't work. When I phoned the GP re: this I was told if it didn't work then don't take it. I was also informed, there's another drug available which may work, but its very expensive.
She also informed me I've had to many xrays & stated she didn't wish to expose me to anymore radiation from scans etc:
( last xray I had was over a year ago & another 6 months previously.
Does this sound normal?
I'm still in pain due to the injury, should I forget the GP & go private.

@M1CK I would personally ask to see another GP face 2 face for a second opinion before going private.

Hi @M1CK, if the nerve damage is affecting your quality of life it's really worth asking for a second opinion from another GP if there's one available at your surgery. Were you hoping to have more tests, is that why she was mentioning about the radiation?
If it's pain you're struggling with you could ask if they can refer you to a pain clinic who might be able to go through some other options with you.
