Copy of my OT assessment

I just got a copy of my OT assessment report from 2 years ago when I was previously in hospital following a transplant.

It's difficult to see the difference between the person who did the report and an assessor working for the DWP.

In the report, they said I moved around in hospital without pain, had no problem showering myself and could do transfers one handed.

I had been in a hospital bed for just under a month and had massive muscle wastage, they had to wash me in bed because I could not support myself to get in the shower.

I had 2 massive incissions in my chest from the surgery, held together with staples, I looked like that guy from highlander, my wounds kept weeping blood and pus, but according to the person who signed my OT report, I was not in any pain.

I wondered why they released me without carer support when I got home, fortunately I had district helping me change my dressings, just surprised at the assessment report that was submitted, I was going to use it to support my PIP appeal, but now I am not so sure.

Do you get an OT assessment after each major operation? I had to have 4 follow up operations post transplant op, wondering if I should look for some other OT reports?

    @MyHappy256 Shocking. The person who did your OT assessment probably worked for ATOS prior...They had "Health Professionals" that came to your house to progress PIP assessments.... 🤔

    Health Care Profesionals are mainly nurses, & few physios or paramedics as far as PIP goes; I'm not aware that any Occupational Therapists were significantly involved.

    I believe that OT's are however often involved in assessing your needs prior to a discharge from hospital, & am sorry that this wasn't in the least supportive.

    If you're appealing a PIP claim @MyHappy256 then if your OT assesment isn't positive, don't use it.

    Perhaps document the help you needed from your district nurse, etc.

    I believe the most important thing to say with PIP is your own evidence as to the difficulties you face with relevance to the PIP 'descriptors.'

    @chiarieds if your first sentence is directed at me, the OP stated "It's difficult to see the difference between the person who did the report and an assessor working for the DWP." That is why I posted my reply as a thought. Some of the ATOS assessors were senior nurses too, I had two at my house at different times and they assessed your needs asking you to perform moves etc.
