What are your Christmas Traditions?
Does anybody have their Christmas traditions? I'm curious if anyone has anything quirky that they do?
One of my favourite family traditions is as much Christmas Chocolate as we want for breakfast, Christmas Pajamas, and a glass of Bucks Fizz at some point during the day. It's the one day a year I ever drink it and I don't really like it, but I still do it because it's tradition 😅

Nothing exciting
I don't bother to get dressed.
I usually listen to the radio for half the morning
watch a couple of Christmas themed horror films
have dinner
have a nap
watch the soaps
and go to bed

When my nan was around (who loved Christmas) It was a more normal family time together Christmas, but my mum doesn't care and treats it as a normal day so since 2013 the above is my unusual but regular routine.

I always make a little wish on Christmas Eve at an open window (or my back door now I have private garden!) I love the energy and stuff around Christmas and while I don’t believe in magic I do think some positive energy in the world and sending it back out there is good for everyone!!
I still hang a stocking and get an advent calendar each year - I like the routine of it ❤️
Maybe one day I’ll find something in my stocking that I didn’t put there myself 😆😆

When my children were young they use to stand outside my bedroom door asking each other was it time to wake mummy up...then when they decided it was they would burst in with a box of Ferrero Rocher for me and a selection box for them...how could I not forgive them at 5 -30 am.
When they grew up my son gave me a shot of something while I was preparing Christmas dinner...After Shock at 10am isn't good
As they left home and had their own families I still have chocolate for breakfast as do theirs, because it just wouldn't be the same if we didn't..

My daughter texted me yesterday to remind me that 'The Snowman' is on TV on Christmas Eve (followed by 'The Snowman and The Snowdog'). I certainly started something with having that on at Christmas when my children were young! My daughter watched it every year with her children.
A few Christmases ago my son & his wife gave me a hip flask, which you might guess has 'Crazy Penguin Lady' written on it. I thought 'oh, lovely, but what am I going to do with it?' I soon found out after our Christmas Dinner as it was apparently their tradition to go on a dog walk with a flask full of Baileys Irish Cream, which I'd never had before, nor ever used a hip flask! & a photo has to be taken….
I tried to buy a small bottle of the Salted Caramel version last year for them, but it didn't arrive. Success this year, so we 3 might be going on a very short dog walk again this year.
My Mum used to make a gorgeous desert for Christmas made with butter, chocolate & chestnut puree, & a little coffee & rum, topped with whipped cream, & I made it for my children as I still have my Mum's handwritten recipes. My son's wife wants me to show her how it's made, & my daughter recently asked for the recipe, so this is a tradition that may carry on.

Happy Xmas everyone. I hope you have a wondrous, joyous and peaceful Xmas. My first tradition is to wish people a Happy Xmas, so I have achieved that!
My 2nd tradition is to get the Xmas shopping finished early and then go a pub and have a drink. I achieved that mid morning Friday 19th. So far, so good!
Today, Sunday, I will go to St. Paul's, but if there are too many people milling around I will just come home. But I like going to St. Paul's on the prelude to Xmas and other times during the year. But if it is too busy I will just forget it. So it is a semi-tradition. A big tradition though is that I must have a pork pie and sausage rolls!
I have attached my daft Xmas card that is meant to be printed on both sides of a piece of paper. It is based on a Laurel and Hardy skit. If it makes someone smile I am happy!

Christmas not the same since my mum passed in 2017, my sister passed in 2021 , she used to come up with her children when they were small. My daughter dosent di Christmas ,she buys presents. But just endures it. I try and do it, but it seems the spark has gone

Our tradition is having a prawn cocktail, can't remember a Christmas without one.

Not very quirky, but I like to watch The Snowman on Christmas Eve and after Christmas Day we would often start a big puzzle. It has always been quite competitive and we'd fight over the last pieces! Those are the only traditions we have in my family but I'm hoping to start some new ones eventually! ☺️

We always do a massive jigsaw puzzle on the dining table. My parents started it years ago and now we can't eat dinner there until it's finished. It's a bit annoying but fun.

That looks nice. We don't have anything really unusual, but we always have a leisurely morning with lots of coffee, pajamas, and Christmas music playing while we open gifts. Then, if the weather is good, a long stroll. However, Bucks Fizz once a year is quite relatable.

Thanks @Zakholland441. I didn't really get the tradition this year, but it was nice to see my mum and brother for a bit in the morning. I'd take that over the old traditions any day 😊
That sounds lovely! A nice crisp Christmas walk 🤗 Is the stroll before or after dinner? I'd struggle after a plateful.

I realised today that I miss the family games we played. Board games usually ended with an "I'm not playing" but a dozen or so different card games only at Christmas was our family tradition, played with chips and coppers. Two special decks of cards would come out for Liverpool Rummy and only my dad could shuffle them - they went straight back in the box afterwards!
