Who are you spending the big day with?!

I know I’m not alone in being alone at Christmas but that there’s also loads of people who will be with to family or friends or even pets 🐶 🐈‍⬛

So who, if anyone, are you spending the day with (willingly or otherwise!)?!

I'll be with my partner and two of our friends from the local community theatre who would otherwise be alone.

Maybe all those alone can log in to say hello to each other on Christmas day and keep each other company ☺️

Well, being alone just means I’ll be with good company 😆

Seriously though I’m sure lots of us have tales of awkward, unpleasant or uncomfortable Christmases, I definitely know first hand that being alone can also be a blessing ❤️

Will anyone else be popping on here?

I'll be here in the morning, but Shadow will keep you all company in the afternoon🐈️(I 'think' that's a picture of a cat) @Biblioklept unless she's having a nap after her Christmas Day prawns!

I'd love to see a picture of Shadow at Christmas @chiarieds!!

This is going to sound silly but I never thought about cats eating real food 😅 I mean of course they do, but it never crossed my mind, especially the idea that you could feed them things like prawns!!! I bet Shadow gets thoroughly spoiled and will most definitely be having a afternoon nap ❤️

I will see you here @onmylonesome!!

I won't be alone, although, I really enjoy it solo. But, I have orders from family, so there will about 14 of us, maybe more. More than that Boxing Day as it's my niece's 40th (it was my mum's too 😔) & the 27th is her daughter, my great niece's birthday. It's pretty full on & knackering!

Wow that's a lot of people @JessieJ! Do you get a bit of time afterwards to chill out?

I'll pop in tomorrow too, as I'm spending Christmas Eve alone as far as real people. I'd just love to check in with others here.

Family will be video calling from Sweden and Canada tomorrow. Then on Christmas Day I'll get more Canadian family video calling, plus I'm going out for lunch with Spanish family. I'll definitely get friends texting and calling, but I don't want to see them this Christmas or Christmas Eve, as I want to focus on family. I've had friends celebrations to now and there are more after Christmas.

It is the first Christmas in my life that I have all three families in my life at Christmas - Swedish, Canadian and Spanish. It's been hell getting to this point of harmony, but it has been so very worth the effort. So I want to bask in that for two days, really soaking up our victory and our glory. Hopefully there will be more Christmases to come, but at the least I have this year, which is awesome. Just awesome.

    🎄💕😊💕🎄

Not much, @Rosie_Scope, as once all cleared away, it's onto games. One of which goes on for a while, but is good fun for all. It should be 18 of us, but niece is at in-laws this year, the one who's 40 next day.

Merry Christmas one & all, whether solo or with family & friends on the day 🥂

Since 2018 (after a 16 yr marriage) I’ve spent every year on my own. It’s a tough time of year for me. But there’s loads worse off than me so I’m not gonna complain. All the best to all of you on here whether alone or with family. Merry Xmas.

@Jamie12345 and others who have a difficult time this year, you're not alone. I have never known anyone who 100% enjoys Christmas. I believe that's a myth. Problems don't magically disappear for anyone during the month of the Christmas season. And we all have problems. We all keep struggling. I think the worst possible idea about the spirit of Christmas is that the spirit is only for happiness and we are alone in our suffering. We are never alone in our suffering. The world is chock full of suffering. If anything I think it is suffering that unites us. Perhaps this is a little too deep for Christmas Eve morning. But that's what my heart wants to write this morning. Sappy, but there it is. United we stand, including in our suffering.
