PIP Review Decision-should I be concerned?
Hello-my first post.
I have recently received my new PIP decision following a review by a health assessor. Only been ongoing since February! The telephone assessment lasted for over 2 hours and was very thorough. Exhausted afterwards! In short the new decision is living increased to higher rate and mobility also increased to higher rate.
However, I am concerned about one award component: Planning and following a journey. When I completed the PIP review form I struck through this part and left no comments thus expecting 0 points. However, the assessor has awarded me 12 points for this activity!!
Should I just accept this or query it with DWP? The DWP decision is very brief and gives no explanation for the award. Really concerned that the DWP may come after me sometime in the future. It doesn’t affect the mobility award as I was awarded 12 points for moving around.
Secondly, the award indicates that my award will be reviewed after 27.11.35-10 years. I’m 61 now. Always thought reviews were every 2-3 years. Is a 10 year award usual or is it a DWP error? Really don’t want to contact DWP but am really concerned. Am I just being silly? I am very anxious and worried about the award! Sorry.
Thank you.

Hi @alex0512 - as you say, you already had 12 points for the 'moving around' part of the mobility component, so it doesn't matter. Perhaps it was as the result of something you said during your assessment?
Awards typically are on average for 2-3 years, but it must have been that your needs are stable & unlikely to improve, so you have been got this longer 10 year award. After this you should continue with just a light touch review, with a much shorter form to complete, & likely not need another assessment. It won't be a mistake, so you have nothing to worry about.
