@andycov the decision letter should be with you in two weeks. Some members do a check on the automated phone system, but it not always accurate. Give it a few days from your text message for the system to be updated, though it could be correct in your case. You can call PIP for the decision result but they don't always tell you over the phone.

@megmog00 the texts are standard and sent to everyone. The first text is saying the Health Professional has received your Review form and if they need more information above what you sent in with your form and evidence, they will contact you to arrange an Assessment.

If you were not contacted for an Assessment, you probably have sent in enough information and evidence that the Health Professional could progress a paper based assessment without having to contact you. You would not be contacted in this case.

The second text is informing you that your Review is completed and you are being sent your decision letter. Some Reviews are progressed faster than others and you cannot read anything into this. Try and stay calm, what has happened to you does happen to other claimants!

You can call PIP and ask about the decision, but they do not always tell you over the phone.

I am assuming it’s a good thing not having to wait so long. It could just mean that you sent enough evidence in and they have all the information they need and it’s a paper base decision 🤞

Hi, I really don't want to worry you but I thought you might rather know. I sent my PIP review form back in June (a lot of evidence with it) and I got the same texts within a few days. I also thought this is too good to be true.
After waiting 3-4 weeks with no letter I finally managed to get through to PIP, who then put me through to a case worker. He explained that as I had included my previous Health Assessor Report (5 years ago) with my evidence, when it had been scanned in it had triggered the text messaged that the HA had made their decision. Unfortunately this was not true. I have received no further texts since.
I have called again and it looks like I am awaiting an assessment which, as we know, is awful.
Maybe this is what has happened to you?
I'm sorry, I don't want to put a downer on anyone, but it my be worth ringing to find out if you have included similar evidence. J x

@Jasmine3234 time can pass due to backlogs. If you sent in enough information and evidence, then you may not have to do an Assessment, they progress the Assessment when further information is required. They may have or going to progress a paper based Assessment in your case and you would not be contacted until they have made a decision.

Hi @Jasmine3234 - I'm sorry this happened to you. From what you've said it seems that, as you'd sent in a previous assessment report, & the DWP had made a decision in part due to that, then you received a text in error saying that with this review, it was complete.

Your situation is the first that I've come across, so thank you for explaining. Most review claimants do have an assessment, &, tho a few have a paper-based assessment, unfortunately we can't know which it will be. I hope all goes well whichever it is; will you kindly let us know the outcome?

Thanks @Trevor_PIP I hope you are correct. The case manager said to me that as I had been texted wrong information he would look at my review quickly (and commented "you have sent a lot in!") When I didn't hear anything for months I finally got through to someone at PIP who basically said you are down for an assessment. My last review was paper based and extended to 5 years.
So, I'm obviously upset, but I'm still hoping the next level up might consider paper based?
Thanks, I'm new to posting on here so I'm not sure how to reply to individual comments.

@Jasmine3234 you have replied perfectly! Try not to worry, PIP claimants are waiting as long as you. Hopefully you will hear something shortly. You can still call PIP for another update.

Hello All, following having to migrate to the dreaded UC, from ESA support group in March/April 2025, I soon after got my first PIP renewal form, to be in by May 2025. Of course it’s part of their mind games to insist you do it by a certain date, but it can be months, or over a year to process it. The woman from Age UK here in Norfolk completed it for me, but I wasn’t happy with it. The man who had completed my first PIP form in 2019 (after DLA stopping) was very experienced, but sadly passed away about 2-3 years ago.

I then asked my son, who has cerebral palsy & who works long hours , would have a look at it & he said it wasn’t anywhere near good enough & we ended up putting a lot of supplemental pages of information together. The Age UK woman had even ticked some boxes incorrectly, so they had to be amended!

I got an extension of the review form, sent it recorded/tracked delivery & have heard nothing since, the “award” runs out on the 19 Th of February & I believe you will still get payments until a decision is made? But I’m not sure if I should contact them by phone (the thought terrifies me) to try to get an idea of how far along it is? I asked my County Council about renewing the blue badge, but what they were asking for was a long list of supplementary questions (like a mini review of PIP) & attaching prove from my medical records of scans, X-rays, consultant letters. I can’t deal with that now & it’s not essential as I’m not a driver.

I would welcome any suggestions please? Thank you.

@shamrockgirl your current PIP award will be automatically extended for 12 months 35 days before it ends. This extension is valid until your Review has taken place and you have the decision letter.

The issue over your Blue Badge is because your current PIP award length is not long enough. So the council want you to go through an assessment, which is the other way to get a Blue Badge is you don't have a PIP award. The assessment is long winded and you do have to provide a lot of information including medical documents. Maybe be better to wait for your PIP award renewal.
