Getting through today
Hoping today passes quickly as my son doesn't want to get out of bed like yesterday. This is not how I wanted my life to be like

It’s really hard when those were living with don’t want to join in, or if they do they let you know fully well they’re not enjoying it. My daughter went through this in her early-mid teens. She’s was diagnosed with autism at about 19, and adhd the other week. Saying she could stay in pjs all day helped and getting her involved and responsible for elements of the meal and activities has also helped as she’s got older. In fact her and her boyfriend still came around last night to make cookies and agree her jobs for today. Her boyfriend has now offered to help cook next year. If that fails perhaps there’s friends/neighbours/family you could pop in and see - if only for a few minutes or if not a community event you can join. Our friends in Oxford told us about a fab one run there.

Let him take the day however he needs @Jane315STARX but use that time to let yourself be kind to yourself. Do what you need or want for the day too, you might find he ends up joining you when you’re having fun yourself. Let him know what you’re up to and that he’s welcome to join any time and then just leave him to it ❤️ remember your needs are important too xx

@Jane315STARX Have a “you” day Jane. Please be kind to yourself. We cannot dictate what other people want to do. Smile and do things you enjoy. When your son is ready he will join in. Love and hugs to you all. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you all ❤️.

My son had years like that. But today has been lovely. Just us but he has been really considerate and chose to spend time sitting with me and even suggested we are downstairs instead of separately in our rooms as we usually do. And he got the dinner out of the oven and put it out and then brought me min. A few years ago I couldn't have imagined this happening. I haven't been well and he is really stepping up. He is 32 now.
Things do get better. Not much in my life has been the way I would have chosen but today was nice.
