Blue badge refusal
you are in receipt of 12points in the planning and following journey assessment. Therefore you are not entitled to a blue badge
can someone explained why having 12 points does not entitle me??
I am profoundly deaf and have considerably difficulty in contacting Derby

12 points In following and planning a journey doesn’t qualify you for a blue badge because it’s not part of the criteria. It doesn’t show you have considerable difficulty in walking or have physiological distress when following the route of a journey. You can apply again sending in relevant evidence to support your claim. You will also need to state why you think you should be entitled to the BB.0

Hello @pikeman27 I'm sorry to read about what's happened with your blue badge application, I've just moved your post over into our transport and travel category so that those in a similar situation can share their thoughts more easily
I've had a look at the 'Who can get a Blue Badge?' section on Derby City Council's website, and it expalins the following:Do you have any evidence that shows you cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress?- 10 points (Descriptor E – You cannot undertake any journey because it would cause overwhelming psychological distress) in the “planning and following journeys” part of a mobility assessment for Personal Independence Payment
I'm sorry to read also that you're having trouble contacting the council. Is there anyone who could assist you with this, such as a family member or close friend?
The council says the quickest way to contact them is online, where you can type out your query.
Additionally, it says: Deaf people can text 07774 333 412.BSL signed video interpretation service
If you are a British Sign Language (BSL) user, you can contact us using the online sign language service.
I hope this helps, and please let us know how you get on with everything.0 -
The OP is getting 12 points for descriptor 1f not being able to follow a familiar journey without an aid or being accompanied, so therefore wouldn't get 1e. The OP doesn't qualify for the blue badge because he's classed as being able to walk and not necessarily having psychological distress. The OP can apply again but would need to provide evidence that they either cannot walk or suffer psychological distress.Alex_Scope said:Hello @pikeman27 I'm sorry to read about what's happened with your blue badge application, I've just moved your post over into our transport and travel category so that those in a similar situation can share their thoughts more easily

my son gets 12 points for planning so that enables us to get a car but because pip didn’t answer question about mobility they refused to renew badge?
Really doesn’t make sense as I told the woman at access, that the government will pay tens of thousands of pounds towards a motorbility car but the local councils won’t give people a free badge to park said car with??0 -
Has anyone got blue badge whilst in receipt of 12 points for "planning and following a journey" re Pip. I am reading that there is option of evidencing risk to self and others due to how your disability affects you when you are near vehicles, in traffic, or car parks.
Has anyone been successful acquiring blue badge via their local council going this route?
