Pip questions

Hi @Sirgaf29 and welcome to the community. What questions can we help you with?

I have a phone assessment on the 12th of January and just wanted to know an idea of the questions I’m likely to get asked and how better to answer them.
I’m new to claiming as I’ve hurt my back at work which resulted in five spinal operations for Cauda Aquina Syndrome.
Not sore if I need to be nervous about the phone call or it’s just a formality.

Hi @Sirgaf29, here is some information that will help you:
It's completely normal to feel nervous about it but it's just part of the process. You'll start with a phone call and then they'll send the report to the DWP who will decide if you are eligible or not. Please don't panic if you are turned down, you can always appeal it. I had to appeal mine twice and ended up going to tribunal where I was awarded. Lots of our members here have been through this process and can help you through it.

Can I assume they will try and arch me out in order to not allow me to have PIP?
I have heard some horror stories and the stress isn’t something I need at the moment.

Not necessarily @Sirgaf29. There are lots of different experiences out there, positives and negatives. Some find they are awarded straight away and some find they need to appeal, it really varies from case to case. Hopefully your experience will be one of the better stories ☺️
