Hi all i was awarded pip for 3 years till September 2026 but today I had the heart sinking review form.has been sent out! But im confused as its not due to expire till September this year and last time I was extended a year before they even sent the review paperwork out. Another thing I want to ask is last time on the review paperwork I put stayed the same for each question thats all no detail and I was asked to complete a telephone assessment which later I was still awarded thankfully. This time im thinking write in more detail as I feel my.condtion is worse and still getting on going diagnosis for it which is my mental health! I feel its got worse these past 18 months but dont no how to explain it any advice please for when the forms come please i already no due to the goverment plans im very unlikely to get it again "( which is making me so anxious and stressed and feel sick.

Because reviews are taking a long time, forms are sent out as much as a year in advance.

Always fill out the forms as if it's a new claim with lots of details, using additional sheets if needed.

If they haven't made a decision and your end date is approaching, they will write to you 35 days before expiry extending the award date by one year.

When a decision has been made it will apply immediately and override your existing end date.

A local welfare rights organisation can support you through the process.

There are currently no confirmed changes to PIP.

Your review will be done under the current existing criteria.

Hi @goldy1691 - PIP review forms are sent out about 8 months before you're current award is due to end, so this seems about right. It can take a long time to get a decision on your review, so this is why it's done so early. You'll continue with the amount you currently receive until this decision is made.

You should give as much detail with your review as you hopefully did with your initial claim form. The review form now used doesn't seem to encourage the 'no change' concept previously used thankfully, as some of our members just saying this unfortunately found their PIP reduced or stopped.

As you've identified, especially as your conditions have worsened, then detail matters even more.

You can see the review form here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/67446cf2ece939d55ce92fa1/AR1_Personal_Independence_Payment_Review_Form.pdf

Please try & read through this, especially the section on 'Reliability' https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-independence-payment-assessment-guide-for-assessment-providers/pip-assessment-guide-part-2-the-assessment-criteria

for it's important to keep your answers relevant to the descriptors, & to take onboard how 'Reliability' matters for each of them.

With mental health problems, this site may also be helpful: https://mentalhealthandmoneyadvice.org/welfare-benefits/pip-mental-health-guide/help-with-your-pip-claim/ altho it's about initial PIP claims, it's still very relevant.

There's not much space to give a detailed reply on the form, so you can also type out your answers to each specific question on additional pages (put your name & National Insurance number on each, as well as saying which question you're answering).

Try & give a couple of recent, detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what exactly happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity?

Say if you can do each applicable activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability.

Say what support or help you need. You can do this, & please don't hesitate to come back with any questions.

    Hi @goldy1691

As Kimi posted, look up to see if you've got a welfare, advice & representation centre near you, they are invaluable & give support, advice & go through the forms with you.

Mine was due for Feb 26, received the forms mid June, sent back beginning of July, as I phoned for an extension, as appt for SARC was day after return by date. It turned out that it was a paper review & I received the text that it was complete mid October. Miffed though, I lost nearly 4 months of my previous 3 years!
