I've been playing World of Warcraft for the past 15 years, but recently I have wanted to start other games aswell. In bought Citiy Skylines 2 in the summer sale but I'm sill learning what to do in it, it's quite complicated.

I'd love to buy a games console but i don't know where to begin. I used to play Call of Duty and Deus Ex, and FI games on my laptop 10yrs ago and i miss it terribly but when i look at gaming nowadays it seems to be predominantly online gaming not a cd one puts into a cd drive and i don't understand much of anything about online (i'm in my 60's).

Being housebound computer games would be so good for me but as previously mentioned buying a console and games then not knowing what to do next could be an expensive mistake.

GTA 5 was when some friends finally convinced me to try it. They're gamers, I'm not.

It's the humour in it that amuses me most about it. Car-nage on steroids!

With the current Xbox, there are two options.

You can buy the Series X, which is a larger model that does still accept discs for games.

Or you can buy the Series S, which is cheaper, but doesn't have a disc drive. So all games have to be downloaded from the internet on that one.

Call of Duty still has a single player mode, though it doesn't last very long as the focus is on the online multiplayer nowadays. The online multiplayer is technically endless because all the games are separate rather than a storyline. If you did want to get back into gaming just for 10-15 minutes at a time, COD is a great way to do that.

Only problem is the games are so expensive now, perhaps buying pre-owned is a better option if you're not sure whether you'll like it. If you want to play online you also need to buy the current version of Xbox Live, now called Game Pass. The basic one costs about £40 a year.

If you've still got a laptop with a disc drive then Xbox games might work on that. You can connect an Xbox controller to a Windows laptop so it feels more like a console if that would be any help.

I have a big gaming PC with 2 monitors, I literally play all sorts on my PC like GTA, Call of Duty, Farming Simulator 25, Battlefield, Euro Truck Simulator 2 literally anything I want, it depends what mood i'm in or what my friends are playing.

Atleast with PC you don't get charged to play online, and you can also mod games on pc. (if you know how to)

If you have gamepass on PC (I stopped since they nearly doubled the price) you have access loads of games, some you don't even need to download you can stream play and instantly play them and all your saved data is saved on the cloud.

I bought Euro truck off Steam at Christmas, it kept coming up with faults and wouldn't load, so hopefully I'll get a refund. And I bought a G29 steering wheel to mach it🙄. I've got snooker too, Cities skylines (too much traffic) American truck driver,Police sim, and too many more to mention, plus Ps4 games.

    Me too!

I've been playing since 2008 but I had a couple of breaks of up to about 18 months.

I don't know what it is about it that keeps me playing it rather than other games.

Maybe it's the autism steering toward habit/consistency even when breaking the loyalty might be of benefit… I don't feel any loyalty to the game but it just feels like I don't want to "start all over again" I guess

That looks like its either a permission problem or firewall problem. Try right clicking it on the desktop and run as administrator, should fix it.

I returned it for a refund Rubin, after seeing other people were having problems too. Sometimes microsoft can be a pain with software, by classifying it has a threat and either stopping it from loading or playing.

Yeah, its caused sometimes by windows own firewall or windows defender which essentially don't give it permission to have access or write in your /C: Drive. Hence why it couldn't create or load a profile as your PC wasn't giving it access to the files.

Glad you managed to get a refund atleast but a shame you couldn't play the game, its a really fun game however has lots of expensive DLC. I have most DLC for it as buy them when on sale, but still costs roughly £100+ just for DLC and without the DLC the map is tiny.

And this is where they've got you Rubin with these games, they don't give you enough in the game it's self, making you buy the next DLC as with Cities Skylines. It's nearly always a con with games now, making you invest in more. See I've bought American truck driver, to be honest, the scenery is dreary and bland and journeys are boring and what do you know, yep you have to buy extra states to play.
