Council Tax Discount

I am aware that an (up to) 100% discount is available for residents with MH issues - not physical issues - this is wrong ….

I am totally unable to walk and use very little council resources - I also do have "Parkinsonism" so would that suffice for a discount ?

    Hi,

'Severe Mental Impairment' doesn't mean mental health with regards to Council Tax. It covers a range of conditions connected to the brain. Parkinson's is one of them, but I think Parkinsonism would be on the cusp.

You've got nothing to lose by applying for it though. Will just need your GP to provide evidence of your conditions.

As you live with a partner, they would still have to pay Council Tax on the property, but would get a 25% discount (single person discount) as you would no longer be counted as liable on the property yourself.
