Advice on work help

I recently experienced an epileptic seizure and, as a result, I am unable to drive for a year. This will significantly affect my work as a window cleaner, as driving is a big part of the business. I now need to employ someone to work with me and transition from a one-person system to a two-person system.

Does anyone know if I can access funding or financial support for this — either from the government or another source? I would really appreciate any advice or information. Many thanks

    Hi @carig82 and a war welcome to the community from me!

    There is Access to Work which is a Government grant that can help pay for a support worker or assistant, travel costs and other work-related adjustments caused by your epilepsy and you can apply as a self-employed person.

    It may be worth looking at Personal Independence Payment (PIP) if you find that your seizures are getting more frequent or if your epilepsy is having more of an impact on your day to day.

    You may also be able to claim Universal Credit or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)if your income is affected.
