The dreaded PIP review forms!

Hi all, I hope to find you all keeping as well as you can be. This Sunday I'm starting my PIP review forms. I moved over the Summer & have never seen my new gp i just spoke to him over the phone & he was not a very nice man! He stated that I Must come off my morphine & dropped it a large amount which made me very poorly & I'm still now suffering from the effects of not having enough in my system! He also stopped 1 other of my medication's outright without weening me off, when I told him this is dangerous he said well I'm doing it! He does not do any benefit letters & my question is: Will it be ok to send my PIP review back without a gp's letter? My old gp was absolutely brilliant & always did letters for me. My daughter who lives with me is my carer, could I get her to write down how she helps me? She does everything as im laid up with chronic pain etc..

Many thanks for your replies.

    Hi @Suzy2stella

It's a bit worrying, the GP you've ended up with. Does the practice use the listing system or can you see any GP? Whatever, poor you, it's not a great start.

I've recently completed my PIP review, it turned out to be a paper one. I didn't include a GP letter or any back up paperwork. I did go to a local advice & welfare centre, with my forms, the same I go to for any DWP form filling, as it makes life easier & less stressful. I did complete some of it, then some I left because of wording etc. Maybe check if there's one near you, as they deal with all this every day, they can fill in your form &/or advise & as I said, it removes some of the stress.

Hi Jessie, I haven't seen any doc since I moved face to face, its all done over email or phone if they can get through.. I'm ok filling out the forms I think as I get help from a group I'm in on FB.. I'm just worried I don't have a doctors letter or like you any paperwork as everything is still packed since I moved. I only got the forms on Monday & they have to be back before the 6th of February so not much time really. But, I remember when I first filled out the forms the first time I applied & I did them one day within 4 hours! I was like a ragdoll at the end of it & i could've speak for hours! It is so stressful doing them, you keep repeating yourself over & over! Did you pass? And did you have to go to be reassessed.. That part i hate! When I first applied I had to go to a centre & my daughter came with me.. The man kept staring at me & asking me to do silly things which mostly I refused, I told him if I did what he asked I would end up in back spasms!

Many thanks for your reply Jessie. I really appreciate it.. ✨️✨️

Many GP’s will no longer write letters supporting PIP renewals so you’re not alone in that and it shouldn’t be a problem. Definitely get your daughter to write a letter stating how she cares for you

    You're welcome @Suzy2stella

The guy that finished filling my form, added the extra info for things that had got worse or been diagnosed since the last. Then in the bits that hadn't got better or worse, he wrote "This has not changed" with the points I received last time.

I passed, without being reassessed, no call & just a paper review. With no GP letter or extra info, all was good.

Yes, all the forms, messages & calls are stressful, without having to have a F2F. Just the message that you're up for review is bad enough. That's why I read through, fill what I can & get the help for the rest, as their wording is better than I could put down. I try to do it straightaway, to get it back as quick as possible, so the only worry then is the outcome. You can ask for an extension for sending them back, normally two weeks, if you need it. My appt with SARC, was the day after they were due back & it was no problem to get the extra time. I actually posted them on the way home, after taking photos of each page for my records. If you feel that the FB group is good help, then all the better. Good luck with it!
