It is absolutely horrifying to see such heinous acts @Catherine21😓

The only thing about this which isn't sad and appalling is that there's growing protest both internationally and nationally about what's going on over there.
Eventually (please!) common sense must prevail...
For the minute I'm boycotting everything Mercan!

One of the reasons I have never used Amazon. I have been making my life harder for years! The thing is, I don't think I could even be on here without the US. We do what we can i suppose.

Please pardon my poor jokes Catherine21.
It's how the Americans I know pronounce "American". Language evolves with use and I will find it hilarious when they become Merkins! (Merkins are pubic wigs, in case anyone cares).
The Interweb was invented by a British bloke (Sir Tim Berners-Lee) Chris75_. The Mercans just made it commercially successful. When I first started using it there were only really universities, prisons, and a few similar organisations on it.
Without the Mercans there would just be fewer adverts, which I wouldn't mind (now that I no longer work in digital marketing!)
😇

I don't know what im talking about, but what about 'cloud storage' or 'GPS'? I had heard they could pull the plug and bring down our connection to the WWW. I hope that is just scare stories.
1 -
Yes Chris75_, they're just scare stories.
Designed to attract our attention and (ironically) sell us more adverts!
The Interweb is a decentralised network. Any two connected computers can make their own interweb. I've done that before at colleges, businesses etc. Nobody's in charge of that, the cat has long left that bag!
Briefly, although they could shut down the storage servers they own and limit what interweb is available for most people in that country (as some governments already do) that would only affect their country and a reasonably capable nerd could get around it easily. It's censorship of a sort, but anyone interested would be able to work out getting around it.
GPS: they could limit access to their satellites but China or Russia (at least) have sufficient that they'd fill that gap and Merca would lose a huge amount of money/influence.
I already have free access without adverts to literally all of the films and TV etc ever made (new or old, in any language). The companies who make those films would call that piracy, but as I've mentioned elsewhere the world needs more pirates (see The Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster) and they'll never stop us!
It's just a case of knowing how, and most young people probably do these days. It's not difficult.
Good luck and please don't ever worry. It's pointless and isn't often good for us.

All that fear and oppression going on in the world right now, so utterly sad. I know I am not adding useful, but just saying it here for the reason of having it out here you know?
Not sure what to do apart from boycotting Amazon, Gmail, you name it. It seems there is an app that helps with this, similar to Boycatt - the app to scan products that you suspect coming from Israel. I might give the Merican version a go…

Canadians have an app that checks bar codes for US goods, they have really taken offence, and who can blame them?

I have a recurring dream. Noem, Hegseth, Miller etc, all taking a one way vacation via a trapdoor. Does this make me a bad person?🤔

The funny thing is that I've just asked Gemini (Google's AI assistant) to help me find that sort of app… and it indeed gave me proper, useful suggestions. I am helping it to undermine itself or it is helping me to find a work-around, depends on what way you look at it.

It may be that they come to regret shooting this man as implying that he deserved it because he was carrying a legal firearm has angered the NRA and republicans don't get elected if they get on the wrong side of them, so they may finally rein in Trump a bit on this issue.

In the future, maybe the Canucks will say instead of 'as rare as hen's teeth' ( assuming they say that too), 'as rare as a bottle of Jack Daniels on a Sobeys shelf'?

Your exactly right !!
