About fifty years ago I was on a school trip in the north of England. I can't remember the details but we may have been looking at different sorts houses. In St. Annes, one of the girl's pointed out Les Dawson's house. I think it may have been gated and the gates were open.
She said she was going to knock and get his autograph for her mum. We didn't think she would and none of the rest of us would have dared. She went to the door with her clipboard (we were all in small group, walking around filling in some work-sheet on clipboards). She dared to knock, we were ready to run. However, he answered the door himself, in his vest and she came back with his autograph. She said he was really nice.
Stars aren't that approachable nowadays but back then the very famous Les Dawson was happy to answer his door to a pesky teenager and give his autograph on the doorstep. I always thought more highly of him after that.

I'm a millennial and I love old comedians, some of whom died before I was born
Les Dawson of course, 2 Ronnies, Spike Milligan, John Cleese… dare I say it on here I even enjoy Bernard Manning, with the exception of some that are just poor taste

I do like the older comedies too! Massive Monty Python fan 😅 and you can't beat a carry on movie!

Well, that's a surprise I've just had a look online and no Russ Abbot DVDs of his sketch shows have ever been released, I thought at least one of his series must've at least been released on VHS but nope, only one VHS was released with a mix of sketches on it rather than full episodes.
None of his sketch shows are on any streaming services either.
But luckily there are plenty of full episodes of his sketch shows uploaded to Youtube.
