Homeless care under council
I was recently homeless and my disability was constantly disregarded. The OT assessment didn't come through and without a voice to represent me my medical evidence and my voice was ignored.I went from one unsuitable accommodation to another both poor accessibility and standard of living .Eventually I had to accept a property in a poor state with unsuitable accessibility .I am still waiting for an OT assessment 6 months on.
I have started a petition to prevent others having to face the same issues (if this is allowed )🙏💜

Sorry to hear this happened to you @bunting10! I've edited the links so people can click through to your petition now. Best of luck with it!
How are you doing in your new place, are you managing to get by ok? I hope the OT comes through for you soon.

Thank you,I appreciate that 😁.I am managing but the whole experience has been very stressful and I wouldn't want others to deal with this.I think an OT assessment would hopefully help whilst in homeless accommodation too,as I was placed in accommodation with many issues including access . I was and still am struggling with heavy fire doors.
With the threat of having to move to other towns, away from nearby support , and unable to bid on adapted properties, like me people will find themselves in properties in a poor state with inadequate bathing and access too.I had to accept the first property offered to me.

That does sound stressful when you're already dealing with so much. It's really admirable that you're channeling your experience into helping others @bunting10.
The housing system is so over subscribed and it's awful how many disabled people are left to cope with unsuitable accommodation. Fingers crossed things start improving for you soon and hopefully we'll eventually see some wider change too.
