Hello @willow1 I am so very sorry you are so upset.

Neurodiversity is part of what makes humanity rich, creative and resilient.

Neurodiversity refers to the natural variation in how human brains think, learn and process information and experience the world. Autism is simply part of human diversity, not faults, failures or things to fix.

    It is who you are.

Would you like to talk about the unfair treatment you have received. It can sometimes help to share with someone else. But only if you want to.

Please take care of yourself. I am here if you would like to chat.

I just wish I wasn't ND, then I'd be able to get a job, and not get called every insulting name on the Planet and then some on social media purely because I can't get a job.

You do have a point, however I'm not sure what other word to use to describe it better. Ways to describe my sensativities is like sometimes its like the feeling of chalk on a chalkboard and this horrible tinggling sensation goes through my whole body and down my spine. Sometimes its like I have too much noise going in my head I can't hear myself think or too much going on a once, literally making my head hurt and I freak out/need to escape. Sometimes its just the anxiety feeling and cold sweaty feeling, like butterflies in your stomach but intense and your shaky.

Hey Willow, your question reminded me of a post I saw from a friend the other day that explains our sensitivity down to a T so thought I would share it with you 🤗

Gilberts syndrome basically causes my liver to build up bilirubin and I can go abit yellowish/jaundice. My body will eventually remove the bilirubin but it takes longer than an adverage person. It doesn't really cause much symptoms apart from feeling tired/exhausted on some occasions and the fact that I can turn abit yellowish from time to time.

Hi @willow1 - I think when the term 'sensitivity' is used relating to a physiological/medical condition such as Rejection Sensitivity/Sensitive Disorder/Dysphoria it has real meaning. Sensitivity can also relate to other disorders, not just ASD, e.g. I have hyperacusis (difficulty with loud sounds) & light sensitivity due to a neurological problem sometimes found in some with my disorder. My son, who has inherited my disorder, has faced difficulty/sensitivity due to smells, he also prefers a quiet environment. We are both 'sensitive' to as yet undefined allergens tho Mast Cell Activation Disorder is unfortunately often a comorbidity of our disorder (Chiari I Malformation associated with the hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome).

A specific 'sensitivity' in no way can be assumed to be just a person being 'over sensitive.' I believe such sensitivities have different meanings when used in the medical sense, where they're fortunately recognised.
