Does Anyone Work From Home Due To Their Health Problems

I would like to know if anyone works from home due to their health problems while also claiming pip.

My doctor does not want me to take on a job, but we are in a financially situation where not going out to work is not really an option. It is a choice of either selling the house, or saving the house and ignoring the doctor and go out to work, or work from home.

Would love to hear from people who have managed to find a job working from home

    Hi @happyman

Working from home shouldn't impact your pip at all. The Work From Home Hub has lots of job ads for work from home jobs that may be helpful😊 What sort of work would like to do?

I also would like to find a remote job, just to help me while I work on my art…and it has been hard to find so far.

Remote jobs are very popular @Cherry70 so it can be hard to find one. I feel incredibly lucky that my job is now remote as my previous job was unsustainable due to my health problems. What kind of jobs have you looked for?

5 years ago I had a remote job as an Expert by Experience for Choice Support UK, although it was a total fail because it was advertised as assisting CQC Inspectors with inspections of supported living accommodation in England, which never happened due to COVID restrictions and an apparent "lack of demand" for the service, so I ended up getting paid to listen to and have almost no input to regular MS Teams meetings with Care Team leaders from across the UK.

My degree is in biology with a specialty in environmental sciences, but due to health problems I had to work at home and I was fortunate enough to have trained in medical transcription to put me through school. So that's what I did at home. Maybe some of you would like to consider that?

I feel so sorry for you. I know this feeling, but there are many options. Most important is that you can work on something you feel is sustainable. I don't know your situation, but there are plenty of office jobs that also offer hybrid. Just be honest and upfront with your situation, and the right people will understand. What type of roles are you looking at right now?
