PIP assessment tomorrow
Hi, I am new here just looking for some advise.
I have Social anxiety which I have had for over 20 years and depression.
Yesterday I got a text with my assesment date, which was booked for Tuesday 3rd March but the timing coincided with the school run so today I asked to rearrange. They have rebooked it for tomorrow. I am now in full panic mode. I really have no experience of dealing with this at all and now it's all systems go. I haven't spoken to anyone on the phone for so long I don't even know if words will even come out.
I am trying to understand the descriptors and what they possible outcome might be.
I don't think I will get many points for daily living. I only leave the house to take my child to school and I don't get out of the car at the other end. My older son comes with me to pick up. My child's attendance and punctuality is very poor because I am so stressed about making the journey we are often late, or I end up sitting in a side road trying to get a grip of myself. I have made this same journey for 10 years and every day is the same. Sometimes we don't make it out the door at all, sometimes we do but end up back at home.
If we do make it to school I spend the day worrying about pick up again and can't get much done.
I avoid going out, people and phone calls and don't have any family, other than my children to help me. Even though I desperately, desperately want help.
Im hoping someone with a similar story or anyone who has been through the process might be able to give some advise as to what descriptor this best fits.
TIA

Sorry that no one has responded to your post and I hope that your assessment goes well today. I think that based on what you have said you should be looking at the descriptor for planning and following a journey and interacting with people face to face. It may well be that other descriptors apply but you haven't given enough detail in your post for me to comment on this. At this stage I would just focus on explaining to the assessor what your issues are and not worry too much about the descriptors. It is helpful to look at the PIP form if you kept a copy to remind yourself what you wrote. If you haven't already asked I would advise that when contacted by the assessor you ask for the assessment to be recorded. Remember if you start to feel overwhelmed at the assessment you can ask for a break.

Hello @Lews2s and welcome to the community.
I'm sorry no one was able to help with this before your assessment. How did it go?

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. The call only lasted 20 minutes or so and the person on the phone was very blunt and cold, interrupted me lots and asked me questions that have no relation to my condition. Only time will tell I guess, but I'm thinking it's not going to be the outcome I hoped for.
