What does this mean ?

This is now the 3rd week my anxiety is through the roof …heart palpitations feeling sick … no one seems to want to give me an answer when they will be sending report back to Dwp ? Can anyone help ?

I forgot to add they (capitia ) haven’t mentioned nothing about audit ? I asked how long it would take to get to Dwp and they said they don’t know not very helpful at all to be honest so I’m still waiting ?

Hello @rollo123, have you asked Capita specifically if it's gone to audit? Sometimes they avoid using those words because it can make people worry.
Final checks” or “with a health professional” are both fairly common holding stages with Capita and doesn’t mean anything negative about your claim. Unfortunately there’s no fixed timeframe and it can take a few weeks. I know the waiting is really stressful, but delays like this do happen.
I hope you hear something soon and in the mean time you could continue to ask Capita for updates or if they can give you a rough time frame or estimate.

Thankyou for your reply it’s really appreciated 🙏 when I asked capitia for an update and they either say in the final stages or health professionals…they said they didn’t know how long it would take 🤷♀️ surely they must have some idea ? no I haven’t specifically asked them has it gone to audit …I think I will ask them that when I ring next week to try and trace it up again ….this is my second attempt to try and get pip now I scored zero afew years ago but my family insisted I try again I have severe emphysema copd and it’s now affecting my daily life aswell as mentally (and that wasnt the best to begin with ) I’m very grateful for your reply …do they have a timeframe wen they have to give the report assessment to Dwp ?

There is no official deadline that Capita must meet for sending your assessment report after the assessment takes place.
In practice, reports are expected to be drafted immediately after an assessment, but quality assurance checks (sometimes called audits) or other delays such as region and work load, can slow things down.
From experience, some reports take 2-5 weeks or more to be finalised and then passed on and it is unfortunately a case of just being patient.

hi again 🙋♀️just an update. I’ve rang capitia again today and they stated it was in the final stages yet again so I asked has it gone for an audit and she said it has I said well why didn’t you say that in the first place …..🤷♀️they said they wouldnt be able to say when it’s going to be finalised and sent over to Dwp. And I may recieve a text when they have sent it to Dwp …So I’m thinking it’s going to take a good while yet. My question is is how long do they take to do an audit and does this mean they are questioning what I told them on my assessment ?

Audit is an internal quality control system, there are no timescales for this unfortunately.
It does not mean they are questioning what you said during your assessment.
They are checking the quality of the assessors work.

I’m trying to be prepared to take it to the next step has I’m sure they will refuse me again hopefully they won’t this time 🤞how do I know what I’ve scored on it will it say ? Xx

Yes that is the standard text that Capita send out once a decision has been made. It may take up to 14 days.

There's a reason why Capita are generally known in some circles as Crapita.

Hi @rollo123 yeah that is a very typical text that is sent out after an assessment. Hopefully you won't be waiting to long for the report now.

how will I know how I did on my pip assessment from capitia once I recieve the copy of it I’ve heard a lot on forums that you can read between the lines what they score you ? ….Thankyou in advance

Once you receive the copy of the report, there will be lists of descriptors alongside a column with a tick next to where the assessor has deemed you have "scored" .
You can use this tool to add up the ticks.
Please note that it is the DWP Decision Maker that decides upon your award. They usually follow the assessment recommendations, but not always.

I feel so degraded ….it really took a lot out of me to go through the assessment in the first place ……what do I do now ?

I'm so sorry @rollo123,that's really disappointing. The next step would be to request a mandatory reconsideration. You can find out more about the process here - Appealing a benefits decision | Disability charity Scope UK. There are also a few links to benefits advisor services that might be able to support you through the process.

how do I do an mandatory reconsideration ? Do I just state what I don’t agree with ?

Hi @rollo123, sorry to hear you didn't get the result you were hoping for. Holly shared a link above with some information on how to get started with your appeal. But mostly, yes, you can use the report they've sent and explain to them in your mandatory reconsideration why you disagree with what they've decided.
It can be helpful to include examples of how your conditions affect your ability to do the activities listed in the points scheme. There are some examples of how to do it on the Citizen's Advice website here:
You can find the mandatory reconsideration form here:
It can be really helpful to get some support with your claim, so it may be worth speaking to a benefits adviser. They should be able to take a look for you and help you make the most of your Mandatory Reconsideration. Turn2Us have an advice finder if you'd like to find a local adviser:
