PIP Review, no assessment, paper decision
I’ve just received my PIP review decision and have had no assessment.
The decision maker has put that I can’t have mobility and has marked me as 4 points even though I have very limited mobility and the box I ticked was a 12 point score.
I’m not sure why they’ve done this so have requested my PA4 report to see how they’ve come to that decision.
Has anyone else had this happen? Why do they change your answer?

You'll have had a paper based assessment which requires minimal or even no further input from the claimant.
The assessor has used the evidence available to score you 4 points for mobility.
On the PA4 there is a box under each descriptor for the assessor to give their justification for each score.

No, initially I’m not getting mobility but I am entitled to it because since my claim 2 years ago I now cannot walk as far as I could. I have ticked the box that gives 12 points because that’s the distance I can walk safely, repeatedly etc but they have said I’ve ticked the 4 point box. I’ve explained why due to progression of my disease etc but they’ve said I’m a 4 point score, therefore not entitled to the mobility element. I have requested my report I’m just waiting for it.

Tthey are saying that from the evidence provided in your application they are able to award 4 points, not more.
If you appeal, it's important to focus on evidencing why you think you qualify for more points.

I didn’t send anything. I didn’t really have anything that new to send apart from the information of the physio I attended.

lol it’s ok it was just quicker to say yes because all of that applied.
I’ve received my report this morning and it reads like they’ve taken the evidence from my initial application and used that? Also it says telephone assessment and it was paper. I’m so confused now I don’t know what to do. Tbh I’m tempted to just not bother I can’t cope with the stress these things cause😢

I sent very little evidence because its about how your disability affects you and whether you meet the descriptors to qualify for an award.
In my experience they went by what I had wrote on the form.
The only medical evidence they asked me about was diagnosis I had by two different hospital consultants.
If they want additional medical evidence they will contact your Doctors to request it.

Like you I did not qualify for mobility previously but do receive personal care low rate.
Also like you my mobility has gone worse since last I applied due to degenerative disc, shin bone pain and swollen legs & Ankle. I have sent my gp records printouts for every visit relating to this issue including physiotherapist and GP names who are treating the issue. I also sent photos of my swollen knees and ankles. I will update when I get a reply.

Decisions are always made by some Pen pushing DWP Jobsworth with no real experience of what it is to be disabled IMO.
