Hi I am looking for help with any advice on medication.

I have a lot of mental health issues but also suffer chronic pain due to fibromyalgia and RLS so recently I was assessed for ADHD because my previous diagnosis of BPD which I got 15 years ago was being questioned. So now I have ADHD and also autism which in a way was a relief because medication for ADHD has a high success rate well honestly it was my last chance to stay around because I can't live in this mental and physical pain any longer BUT now the hope I had for 1 week is uncertain. I am on oxycontin for pain for over 10 years and I found out it's not a medication a psychiatrist will add ADHD meds to so I can wean off the paineds but can take up to 6 months and honestly I won't last 6 months I paid €2,000 for a private ADHD assessment because I would be medicated a month after diagnosis but now I learn this.My primary care doctor isn't sure if the psychiatrist will start me on ADHD meds and I'm spinning because I won't find out for 2 weeks which doesn't sound long but to someone with a plan to end the pain it's a lifetime so anybody know anything about these meds combined id be truly grateful.

    Hi

    What is BPD

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a mental health condition characterized by intense, unstable emotions, moods, and relationships, as well as impulsive behaviors and a distorted self-image. Affecting about 1 in 100 people, it often stems from a combination of genetics, brain changes, and childhood trauma. While challenging, BPD is treatable with therapies like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), leading to a generally positive prognosis.

@Mary_Scope I haven't received an email I've checked my spam folder too .I got my official diagnostic report today I'm on the sever side of ADHD, I also have severe PTSD, depression and GAD it's just so frustrating thinking of all the years in mental torture because of a misdiagnosis 😔 the physcologist recommends medication he thinks because I'm on the sever side I have a 70% sucess rate but again it's up to the psychiarist who I'll chat to in 2 weeks but I've decided to wean off my pain meds and choose to have a life hopefully with joy even happiness maybe . I just wish I could go cold turkey but he said wait until I chat with the psychiatrist. I don't know if I have 3 months left in my fight while I wean off the pain meds 😔 thank you all for your comments I truly appreciate them ❤️

Hi all thanks for the clarification.

BPD is over subscribed I read this in a psycharist journal.

To be honest by definition of this term I think it should be scrapped .

    To many labels on people.

Where did you read this @hass ? - Borderline Personality Disorder causes many people significant distress. I acknowledge that the term 'Borderline' appears to minimise it tho it's a very real disorder. For now we're sort of stuck with it's naming, tho perhaps that may change in the future like 'manic depression' was re-named 'Bipolar disorder.'

It's also important to know that not all medical journals are created equally (some are considered 3rd rate & used where authors may not get otherwise published, some papers are biased or got there results from a small set of patients, or from medical info that was considered of low quality; haven't had their results peer reviewed, etc).

I can also appreciate your use of the word 'labels.' There are however so many different conditions/disorders & to many people finding a name for their disorder really helps to some extent explain the difficulties they have, so a 'name' or 'label' can in fact be validating.

Having a label lets you know what is wrong and what help you need. It can be very helpful. I'm not sure why so many people don't seem to realise this.
