recently been diagnosed with Diverticulitis.
Hello Everyone,
I hope you're all ok.i just wanted to share a few things as I have recently been diagnosed with Diverticulitis.... and to be honest am not really dealing with things great. I am lover of food but now I guess I have to be careful in what I eat, which is going to be hard. So am feeling a bit low 🥺. Any pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Josephine, life can be hard, right? So it is okay to feel low. Perhaps here on this forum you can find either help or a bit of support with what you are dealing with. Hang in there.

Hi @Josephine23 and a warm welcome to the community!
Thank you for telling us a little bit about yourself. A diagnosis can be a big adjustment espcially when it impacts things like your food, so please don't be hard on yourself as it is a lot to get your head around! Were you given any post diagnosis support?
I'm just going to change the title of this post so it's easier for people who do have the condition to find and can relate to hopefully reach out with some support and advice too, hope that's okay!0 -

Hi Susan 234,
I totally understand it is difficult. It's a lifelong condition - I can't get my head round it. It completely changes your life with food! Thank you for replying.

Hi @Mary_Scope,
That would be very helpful. I do feel feel alone with dealing with this condition. My health seems to have deteriorated since I lost my late mum over 3 years ago ... She was my best friend as well as my mum. I miss her terribly, but life goes on. Doesn't it!? Re: the diagnosis No I haven't had any help. To say it's a common condition, it's a matter of navigating yourself.

Hi @Josephine23 welcome to the Community. You might find the following link useful.
I have Ulcerative Colitis and have to be very careful what I eat. You might find keeping a food diary helps you identify which foods affect you most.
I have to be very careful with dairy and cannot eat tomatoes at all.
It is always difficult coming to terms with a new diagnosis but you will find your own way of dealing with your condition.
Take care.

@Smellybin,
Thanks. Life is tough. Certainly when you get older and have more difficult issues to deal with. Whether that be your health, relationships. It's challenging! Thanks for your reply.

I was diagnosed several years ago now so have mainly adjusted. I still sometimes eat something and have a reaction even now. Just trail and error.
Take care.
