Carer element backdate

Hello, i am new here,and need your valued input.we (husband and wife) are on uc since 2019,my husband got Pip in feb 2023,but we informed dwp about my care duties,when they called me for work searching meetingin jan 2026.Job centre advised to apply for care element which we done in januray 2026,Now they will pay only for 1 month care element as showing in payment section.we did not apply for carer allowance as i am on LCWRA.Can we get backdated carer element from feb 2023.Thanks.

It is your responsibility to inform UC of relevant changes as soon as they've happened.

You can request a Mandatory Reconsideration of the decision not to backdate payment for Carers Element.

This will go to a Decision Maker.

If the decision is unchanged, you can appeal to an independent appeal tribunal.
