PIP points -Health Professional consideration
Evening
Can anyone tell me the meaning of this
HPs should not consider the point scores associated with descriptors or whether these will confer entitlement to the benefit if chosen by the DWP’s case managers (CMs). HPs should only consider whether the descriptor is appropriate to the claimant’s circumstances.
Many Thanks

Hi @AAmd2025 - that statement (from the PIP assessment guide part 2) just means that a Health Professional shouldn't be thinking about what points the DWP might give (nor whether these may mean a PIP claimant might be awarded a component of PIP - daily living/mobility or both) when doing their assessment, rather just choose what they consider the relevant descriptor.
They do have to consider how you are the majority of the time, & whether you can do an activity 'reliably,' which you can also read about (& it's very important) under the 'Reliability' section of this guide for assessors:
Hope that helps.

Morning it does
So on my assessment report by Maximus all the boxes have been ticked in which points to award. Am I correct in thinking that the boxes should not have been ticked.

The boxes on the report don't have the points written against them. HPs are just ticking the descriptors that they believe apply to you..
