PIP mental health claims
I seen a post on reddit where someone stated - "In recent months, mental health claims are getting straight 0's" on PIP applications/assessments!
Is this true, as my application was heavily based on how unwell I have been over the years. I've been in hospital/services for around 10 years now! I'm now a bit worried I may not be awarded PIP. Any advice?

Hi @sightsmash. Every claim is different and there's no way to know if mental health claims are all scoring zero so try not to worry. They'll look at how your condition affects you day to day and score it against each descriptor. Here's a link to all the descriptors that might help put your mind at ease . If the outcome isn't what you hoped for you can always appeal. Here's some information about that

saw the same comment on Reddit, also saw a stat that 39 % off all pip claims are awarded for psychiatric conditions, so they do award for mental health, I was awarded four years ago for MH first time, then awarded higher rate second review, am now on third review but anticipating a reduction this time for various reasons so try not be disheartened, try gather as much evidence as possible, get clinic letters, support worker letters, physiatrist letters, try and arm yourself with best evidence to back up your claim, good luck, the whole process is stressful 😣

What is Reddit please?

It’s a very helpful online advice forum
www.reddit.com
Registering is straightforwardYou can then search for dwphelp and also benefitUK, there are various knowledgable posters on there and various professional dwp workers offer advice ( that actually work for DWP)
Hope you find the forum helpful, it has very in depth benefits advisors, I use Reddit and scope and they’re both and invaluable source of benefit advice
