applying for a IVA but also in the middle of going to tribunal for my PIP
I’m applying for a IVA but also in the middle of going to tribunal for my PIP. I’ve been told that if I am awarded the higher PIP I’d get a back payment and that this might be awarded but taken by the IVA, is that true?

Hi
What is an IVA

Hey! It’s an Individual Voluntary Arrangement where all my debts potentially will be combined and I make one payment over 5 years within which time of I manage to clear them - great! Otherwise they’re written off x

Hi,
The rules will vary with different providers so none of us can say for sure in your case.
They can take backpay to cover an IVA, but that doesn't mean they will. If you can provide evidence to show what you would use the backpay for (for example, an aid or adaption related to your disability) then generally they will allow you to spend it. But they won't usually allow it just to sit in a bank account unused.
