I live in Co Durham and am looking for a free adult wheelchair as I have mobility problems. Recently had surgery on spine & now im meant to stay off my back for 2 years to allow it to fuse. This is impossible as I work full time & have to get out & about. A chair would be really helpful allowing me to reduce the weight and pressure on it please. Can collect fairly locally.

Scope is a national site, you might do better posting on local community social media groups.

If your household recycling centre has a shop, wheelchairs can be found at low prices.

You can try Freecycle or similar sites too. I would also google something like "what to do with wheelchair after death Durham" to get suggestions what charities and schemes take used wheelchairs, and then contact them to see if they have anything suitable for you.

Hi @KTH and a warm welcome to the community from me!

Local Facebook groups can also be a good way to find wheelchairs in your local area as well if you have an account😊

It's lovely to have you here and I hope you enjoy your time on the community

Also look on Gumtree & Freeads, they often pop up on there for free.

Wishing you good luck in your recovery

I haven't due to the cost. Im thinking it maybe a temporary item for a couple of years & I don't want to become reliant yet, though if that happens then so be it. Thank you for your advice though.
