Lcwra or carer element, light touch
Hi.
My partner gets carers element for me as I am on pip, uc have asked for sick note. My partner earns a good wage so we are over couple aet. I haven't worked for a long time because of his wage, but now I get pip and I cant work due to disability,we also have a child age 14 we have applied dla for him.
Do i have to submit sick notes as if he gets dla I will be his carer
I am a little confused uc has left us alone because of the aet, I'm not sure what to do for the best
Thankyou

You cannot guarantee that your son will be awarded DLA, and even if he is, you cannot guarantee that the rate will qualify you to claim as a carer. Providing fit notes and undergoing a WCA may result in you being placed in LCW or LCWRA. Being in LCWRA would increase your UC award and mean you would not be required to undertake work search or work-related activities, even if your husband’s work situation changes.
That said, since your partner earns more than £1,534 (the current couple AET), you are already exempt from work search or work-related activities. You do not have to provide a fit note or undergo a WCA, but you may choose to do so if you wish.
