The price of stamps is going up from the 7 April 2026.
2nd Class to 91p rise of 4p
1st Class to £1.80 rise of 10p
My postal service is dreadful we get post once a week and then a handful at once.
What service are we paying for?

I do remember when we used to get two deliveries a day. @Chris75_

Thanks for the heads up, @Bluebell21
It's ridiculous! They used to go up a penny or two once a year, now, by a lot more & at least twice a year. Might be more, I've lost count. Maybe they think they're an energy firm! And they wonder why letter numbers have fallen greatly. 🙄

Total rip off since it was privatised

Wow, I forgot there used to be two deliveries a day, seems very quaint now! I only get a delivery every 10 days or so with a load at once.
Two years ago we had no deliveries for TWO months as a dog bit the postman, they allowed us to collect from a local small Morrisons. I could rarely go. On the positive side, at least I got no bills. Every cloud...

It costs more to run the vehicles. It costs more to run the sorting offices. It costs more to pay the wages. Prices have to go up every year due to the way our society has been built.
It's not really a rip off though, I doubt anyone could travel from Lands End to John o Groats to deliver a letter for less than a pound…in fact I doubt you could hand deliver a letter to the next town for less than a pound!
I rarely get any letters in the post myself now. Much easier to get bills via email.

The trouble is prices go up and up, yet service standards have never been worse.
