Helloooo @mary _Scope and @MissMarple always nice to chat about books :)
Is Gone Girl the one with suspicion on abuse or murder? Something to do with storing vomit in the fridge? If so, it was way too evil for me.
I am currently reading Alexis Hall’s Boyfriend Material and I keep laughing out loud which is good, because it is about undermining yourself or being seen as less by others.
But you Miss are very brave for reading this book. Very timely topic, we need books like these. But I need my distance from this from time to time for my mental health. Thanks for sharing, if I change my mind I’ll know where to find it.
Have you heard of the Melt the ICE knitting pattern for hats? A woman from Minneapolis has a local yarn shop and designed this as a visible protest of ICE actions in the United States and raising funds for immigrant aid agencies. Over 11 thousand has been knitted already! Yay!I am just very thankful for every single human wanting to discuss this or knit a hat to say they’ve had enough. We are way past a grey area, I am finding it hard to find the right words for this.

So cute!

That sounds like a promising book @MissMarple Hopefully better than the one by Bella Osborne, but hey… if it is not to your liking… so you've made a very wise decision.
Today I'm restless and nervous, trying not to spiral, you know. Like thinking things won't ever get better than this, but yeah I do wonder if this is all there is. It probably is. It is not weird being sad with that. It won't be that different to lots of other chronics, I am guessing. Perhaps you as well, dear. I know you mentioned struggling.

Hello @SmellyBin It seems like your comments did appear with a delay and then multiple times. It's a bit difficult to follow so my apologies if I'm not replying to something you mentioned/asked.
I'm sorry to hear you've been having a sad day(s). Chronic illness seems to have this recurring theme; we need to grieve the same thing/overcome the same emotions over and over again. I'm incredibly lucky because I'm very introverted and also autistic so I can find some peacefulness in the forced inactivity and isolation that comes with M.E. It is still very hard sometimes because it's not just about loneliness but the loss of independence, spontaneity, ways to decompress, the constant planning to manage our energy, schedule etc. And other illnesses, conditions, everyday stress, financial worries, relationship troubles, politics will still happen. It's not like we get a pass just because we have chronic fatigue.
Well, after a few chapters, I've given up on the thriller too 😂 The writing style just didn't keep me engaged. I'm very fussy when it comes to books. I understand why you would find the topic of Repeat upsetting. I tried to read Year of the Rat in which a journalist goes undercover to infiltrate the far right. I couldn't stomach it.
So are you going to knit these hats?

Thank you @MissMarple You being kind is really helpful, I felt uneasy sharing this knowing you are also having ups and downs. It also helped having a tiny cry at the dinner table just now. Part of life, right?
And you still haven't answered the question of how you are doing, so if that is related to feeling uncomfortable: no need, but hey, no pressure either. Just a gentle pat on your back for being you :)And what a wise woman you are, abandoning yet another book. Will you believe I put it on my to read shelf and was planning to start it perhaps next week? Seriously! And I might still give it a go.
I got a voucher for Storytel, not sure if you've got that in the UK. I can read for free for six weeks, but it is only on the phone (I don't have a tablet) so that takes a bit of getting used to.
Currently reading The Vanishing Point by Val McDermid and wanted to mention Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books to you. I enjoyed it immensely and it really was also very timely, but not too heavy. You go slow, we'll be thinking of each other and books of course.

Thank you for the book recommendations @SmellyBin I'll look them up.
I abandon lots of books because I like giving a chance to anything that piques my interest. I usually read library books so cost is not an issue. I read a few chapters, but if I'm not enjoying it, I won't waste precious energy. I wasn't able to read at all for about a year because of M.E. I'm glad that I can read again, so I'm gonna make sure the energy reading consumes is well spent.
Today has been ups and downs for me, thanks for asking, but that's just usual. Do you have any special plans for the weekend?
0 -
Well, let's just say I hope your weekend has been a bit better than mine, @MissMarple But let's not dwell on that, tomorrow is another day * touches wood *
But the good news is, I got a voucher to invite a friend to Storytel to read for free for 30 days (both e-books and audio). If you want, send me a private message and I'll share the link (it's not spam, obv).

Thank you for the offer @SmellyBin It's very kind of you. I've got plenty to read at the moment so I would leave this opportunity for someone else who could make better use of it. I do appreciate the offer though.
Not the best weekend for me either. It's hard to find motivation with minimal energy. I did the dishes and changed the dehumidifier pods. Currently debating whether I should take out the rubbish or leave it for tomorrow.
Hope you'll have a better day tomorrow.

How are you doing @MissMarple Have you been reading or doing anything fun?

It's been a challenging few days @SmellyBin Flare ups from which I haven't recovered yet. How have you been?
0 -
Oh @MissMarple that is not what I was hoping to read. I do feel for you and those nasty flare ups.
I managed to wash my hair at the kitchen sink today and yesterday we went with the wheelchair for a stroll around the block. We even heard a goldfinch - thanks to the bird app, otherwise I would never have known.
So yeah, two days in a row that I can't complain about - just let not talk about the others, right :)I am just hoping there is something small that brightens your day or perhaps lightens your mood, like blooming daffodils outside or reading a bit in a nice book. Hang in there, Miss. I am cheering you on, dear.
