Savings threshold on UC
I tried ringing universal credit about getting lump sum from Pip would that affect universal credit if it went above the threshold of £6000 but they did not have a clue can somebody confirm that there is a time scale regarding the lump sum if it goes over the threshold

Its disregarded by UC for 12 months.

Maybe you could look it up on the government website but universal credit should have known the answer.

If its "over" £5000, from what I know it should be disregarded by UC for your entire claim. I believe you may need to also show UC evidence of the payment you received from PIP, and the reason why you received it 😊

As others have said, less than £5000 is disregarded for 12 months, more than £5000 is disregarded for the life of the claim.
You should still report it to UC when you get it. If you have an online claim with a Journal, there is a specific place to put benefits backpay to be be disregarded when you update savings on there. If you have a telephone claim then you should notify them by phone instead, but make it clear that it should be disregarded, as the call handlers are unlikely to know.
