The post you shared about “Digital ID being pushed ahead” is basically referring to the Government launching a consultation today.  They are asking the public for their views. It is not a new law, just a consultation.  This is the stage where they are meant to hear people’s opinions before decisions are made.  See link below.

The “100 random people” bit made me smile too. I don’t know about you, but whenever they say “we surveyed X number of people,” I always think, well they never asked me or anyone I know, because we certainly didn’t agree.  If you are not one of the lucky 100, Catherine, you can always email your MP with your views. I will be getting in touch with mine because I have never been in favour of this kind of state interference, and I am not happy about the digital ID idea at all.

If  you open the link I attached in my earlier post, then click on the highlighted “national consultation,” it actually says in their own wording: “We are designing the new digital ID as something people will want to get, rather than something they must have. There will be no legal obligation for people to have or present the digital ID.” Let’s just say I’m not entirely convinced, I’ve heard that sort of reassurance before.

The problem with banning 16 year olds from social media is that it's literally unenforceable, people would use a VPN to get round it for one thing.
