Had a text & email earlier

Reminder: … you have a Universal Credit phone appointment. We'll call you at…

How can they remind you of something you knew nothing about, no text, email or journal notification & it is for tomorrow!!! 🀬🀯 I sometimes wonder where they get their workforce from, seriously!!!

On a sweet note, my neighbours appeared at my door to say Happy Mother's Day with some tulips & a slice of homemade Polish apple cake. First time in my life, as I never had children, just mainly mutts. It certainly helped cancel out the DWP thoughts. So lucky to have such super neighbours. 😎

Oh wow, that is very thoughtful of your neighbors! We need highlights like that, don't we? Especially when you are being thrown with such an unwelcome appointment. Have you finished the cake yet? And flowers as well, probably a week to enjoy those 🌷Good for you :)

What a bittersweet day, well, much more sweet actually, what lovely, kind neighbours. I've not eaten apple cake for years, yum yum... enjoy 😁.

@SmellyBin, they are really thoughtful & are feeders, with low carbing it is sometimes a problem. But, I make smaller portions, as I would never throw any of it away, as it's so kind & thoughtful. The cake is delish, so I can enjoy a little & it will last me 4 days. 😎

Yes, @Santosha12, the call will apparently last 20mins, the cake, 4 days! 😁 This apple cake, isn't like a cake cake, it has a very short pastry base, spiced apple layer & a streusel/crumble top, it is good. 🀀 The only sugar is the dusting on top. They don't seem to have much sugar in desserts, but that's ideal for me.

Wouldn't the world be a wonderful place if we all had & were neighbours like them. I try, I buy them Polish flavoured vodkas, flowers or something for their daughter. As I wouldn't feed them anything I made! πŸ˜†

Oh just LOVE this @JessieJ!! When I moved back from London to my home city (Manchester) I lived in a busy area, 10 minutes from the Trafford Centre, but down a lane, in a 1870s cottage with a football club and golf club down the lane, horses from the local stables passing my window daily which my dogs loved and THE MOST amazing neighbours, attached is a plate my elderly neighbour bought me in 2002 which I still use to feed my yorkie. We'd kept in touch since I moved to the 'back of beyond' 🀣πŸ˜ͺ until they very sadly passed away but SO grateful they were a much loved part of my life for so long. Some neighbours become so much more than that.

RIP Marie and Brian, much loved and forever missed.

This should be our thread for happy, unexpected encounters and other, similar things. Somewhere else here on the forum people were talking about glimmers and I think these are definitely glimmers worth mentioning.

For me this morning: the wren was singing in the garden. Weirdly, I found out wrens actually sing just two days ago (thank you bird app), I only knew them for their calls 'prrrrrrrrrrrr.'

That's smashing, @Santosha12, good neighbours are everything & definitely are remembered. Even if you should move, then they are lifelong friends.

No probs, @SmellyBin, we all need happy chat! Lucky you with the wren this morning, so sweet & high pitched. I only have pigeons & gulls here!! πŸ˜† But I do get to enjoy birdsong when out along my road & in the parks.

I thought I'd lost my phone this morning, then I found it in my jacket pocket which was hung up in the Wardrobe! Even better, I got a message on WhatsApp from my Taekwondo boss, confirming that I'm doing the grading on Saturday! Whoo and indeed hoo! I'll hopefully be able to achieve in a bit less than 2 years what took me most of 6 years at my former club (get to the rank of 5th Kup - Green belt with a blue stripe)

I've heard about these kind neighbours before @JessieJ, they seem absolutely lovely! Glad you got some cake to take the sting out of that DWP call. Was the call today? How did it go?

Woohoo @SheffieldMan1976, great that you found your phone. Good luck with your grading!

Woohoo indeed, @SheffieldMan1976, that was great news! 😎 And of course, finding your phone. I misplaced mine the other day, finally, I asked Alexa/Echo Dot to call it, not knowing if it would work & it did, was chuffed!

Yes, @Rosie_Scope, it was & thankfully, all went well. It seems I have the same work coach now & she is great. It was more a chat than anything else. I did manage to get an answer about LCWRA, which I've spoken about before with others both by phone & F2F, she finally gave me the info I needed, so that is all done & going through. Just have to wait now, but I've been waiting for 5 years!! As for my neighbours, yes, I've mentioned them before, as I'm just so bowled over by their kindness. I do like trying different foods & Polish, apart from saurkraut, is delish. Golumpki/stuffed cabbage leaves being my favourite so far.

Glad to hear you've got a good work coach @JessieJ, it makes all the difference. That all sounds very reassuring. I've never tried Golumpki before but I've heard good things! Lovely that you get to experience all the foods from another culture ☺️

    @JessieJ

That's lovely of your neighbour but I think it says as much about you as it does your neighbour. You seem like a great person and I imagine they are grateful to have you as a neighbour 😊

Thank you, @Rosie_Scope, it was a relief that it was the same person & in 3 months she will call again. I had to call the helpline, as per her instructions. He was smashing but boy was I shaking, I shocked myself. Anyway, after the call with him too, all was good. As for golumpki, you have to try them sometime, they really are good, well Szymon's are at least! 😁

Aww bless you, @66Mustang, I'm actually blushing, thank you. ❀️ It's lovely to see you on here, I hope all is well with you.
