@Catherine21 that's a scary movie - too scary for me to watch! I rarely watch scary movies, but saw this one which is now considered liminal...

I would love to visit this! I think my heart would be racing the whole time though ๐ I love the widescreen CRT TV and the tiny hedge maze.

Was the second picture one that you found or did you get Ai to make it?

Rachel, I'll go with you. Maybe if we went together it wouldn't be as scary? ๐. While you're watching TV, I want to hang out in the other room on what looks like a bed. If it's too much, I'll watch TV with you with a cup of hot chocolate. Want me to make one for you too?
Ross, both are from Pinterest. Been thinking.... I do digital collages but haven't been doing them for a few months. I've been thinking of doing a liminal collage. I put photos together to project an idea. There's one I did many moons ago that I think might actually qualify as liminal. Maybe I'll dig it up.

Great idea @StarryEyed! I'd love a cup of hot chocolate please. I'm very intrigued to see your digital collage. I've been thinking of doing a paper collage of pictures of my daughter. I have the idea in my head but just need to physically do it ๐

Do you guys have any ideas for any liminal space pictures that I could try and get Ai to create? I could then post them up on here.

The strange thing is that I had a dream once about being in a place just like this before I had even seen the picture, it was almost identical.

Ooh that'd be great!
- Brightly coloured streets where the houses all look the same like from Edward Scissorhands
- Anything to do with pools and waterslides
- A waiting room
- An empty supermarket with unusual products on the shelves

The brightly coloured street has been a difficult one, I've tried several different Ai's and they either end up looking like a cartoon or don't look liminal. But here are the best ones.

I found getting several different Ai's to make liminal pools and water slides pics to be a lot easier.

Waiting room.

And lastly the liminal supermarket with strange products on the shelves.

@Rachel_Scope Oh a collage of your daughter pics sounds like a great heart project! I found my possibly liminal collage but there's one pic that's a bit explicit, so I've asked the community if I'm allowed to posted it. Hoping it's a yes. My collages are therapy, so they're not really a hobby. But I love doing them. Like you, I typically plan a lot in my head before starting.
@Ross1975 your images are top notch. And amazing. And wow. There are so many different styles too. When I tried generating images it took me forever and it was really hard to communicate what I wanted. There was so much distorted garbage generated. It was frustrating. How long on average would you take to make one? What programs are you using?

Here's some hot chocolate with extras for unexpected guests as well as a tray of ingredients for Smores ๐๐

To get the images that I wanted it took a very long time with some, like the brightly coloured houses ones, and even though as pictures I like how they look, they're still not how I wanted them to be as they don't look that liminal and some look cartoony rather than real, but they were the best I could get Ai to make so I just settled with them. With others like the water slides and waiting room it didn't take that long.
The Ai's I used were:
Craiyon - Your FREE AI image generator tool: Create AI art!
Prodia โ World's Fastest Inference
Create Something Amazing - NightCafe
HiDream I1 Dev - a Hugging Face Space by HiDream-ai
There are ones which make much better and more realistic liminal pictures but you have to pay for them, you can see examples in this guys videos: Liminal AI - YouTube
I'm thinking maybe I'll subscribe to one that that guy uses so I can make much better pictures.

Here's an interesting video, it's a creepy robot in a room that looks like a liminal space. I think the person who originally created the video didn't intend for it to be creepy and just wanted to show the robot that he built, which resulted in an unintentionally unsettling video.
I think I find the room creepier than the robot, lol.

That looks delicious @StarryEyed

You're welcome to join the party @Adrian_Scope ๐
@Ross1975 that's incredible how many sources you have. I'd definitely call it a hobby at this point! Would you? Indeed that robot video is over the top creepy. What the what???? ๐ซค
So here's a collage I did in 2011. As I typically do, I have an idea and then search online for images to convey my idea. So I'm very interested in knowing if you think this could be qualified as liminal. It's called "Limbo".

Hi, StarryEyed I wouldn't really say it's a hobby as I don't do it that often at all. I like your collage, I'd say some of the pictures do look a bit liminal to me. I think the last time I made a collage myself was when I was in art class at school.

Art school? Yeah? My art class ended in primary school as I was so ridiculously ungifted. Lol! I can't draw or paint or anything like that for the life of me. But I have these ideas that don't go into words, so these collages are great for expressing myself. What I was trying to portray is that there are many in-between dimensions. Since liminal spaces are an in-between dimension, this collage topic came to mind. Anyway, just something that popped into my head from my vast memory archives. ๐
Here are a couple of odd spaces ...
