For me, it's the ability to laugh at themselves, being a good listener, and honesty.

Empathy, kindness, understanding, don't project themselves onto others, and aren't dismissive and invalidating.
I guess for short basically the opposite of being a narcissist.

Definitely honesty, and if they're living with me, the patience of a Saint, good sense of humour is also a bonus, and if a female friend looks nice in a dress, double bonus.
Non smoker is also a must! I've lost too many relatives on both sides of the family to smoke related illness.
