Self service tills
So difficult and we now have food delivered as despite our trying to get out its too hard. Not enough staff to help if you have issues and its all too much

I prefer self service tills and only try to really shop in shops that have them to avoid the awkwardness of cashiers.
I can check prices while I shop, can scan at my leisure and pack everything without being rushed when a cashier does it. Most of the time I've packed 1 or 2 items by the time a cashiers finished and asking me to pay, which then means I'm juggling things and getting weird looks from people waiting.
I would take self service tills anyday.

We can check all costs online and its works out cheaper as both of us have dietary and stomach issues its easier to monitor. If it works for others thats fine. Our experience in our local store is not ok .

I like self service tills for the lack of having to talk to people. But as a wheelchair user I find them extremely difficult to use. They’re designed for people to be standing so I can’t press the buttons on the screen and can’t really reach the card reader.

I like self service tills.
I generally find them quicker than queuing at manned tills behind people with big trolley loads of shopping.

Like I said on a different topic last week, I hate self service Checkouts in general, if I'm buying certain items, I have to flag down a human to verify my age, also it's happened more than once that the Till roll's got stuck, so you have to flag down a human to fix that! Totally negates the point of SELF service.

I don't mind having a human verify certain items but I don't understand why it is necessary to have non alcoholic drinks verified.
Regarding till roll replacements its the same frustration having to wait for a cashier on a manned till having to do it.

Scope were chatting about this on Facebook a while back! Personally, I don't love that lots of shops are reducing manned tills. And it definitely becomes an accessibility problem for wheelchair users and others who might struggle with the machines. But I can also see that self service can be a much more accessible option to some people.
It feels like we're being moved towards becoming fully self service in some shops, but it would be good to keep the options open so everyone can shop how they like to.

Indeed, fully self service Tills will never happen, like I've said before a self service Till can't determine whether a 50 year old is old enough to purchase Alcohol or age rated magazines for one thing.

That's not actually true now. The till would just have to be fitted with a camera and face recognition software. I recently had to verify my age for xbox live and that was just done by my old smartphone camera scanning my face at home, so the technology does exist, it's just not in supermarket tills yet…
