Due to my bro compulsive gambling for years so many times he cant seem to stop the habit and he has hit rock bottom. As a family with lots of discussions and chances we have come to the decision of applying for lasting power of attorney :( we dnt want to but it looks like we got no choice. Doez anybody have a clue of the nature for applying LPA

Hi Kaur, an LPA would have to be set up and registered by your brother. If he is regularly falling out with family it would seem  unlikely that they would appoint them as an LPA.

You might find this link useful as it discusses a number of options including LPA

@kaur, that is good but please be aware that while mentally capable he can change his mind any time.

There is more information at https://www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney.

Both links describe the process, filling in the forms or doing it online and then registering it.

I hope things get better for your brother and he gets the help he needs.
