I am likely working it out wrong

 :)  I think I might sign up for an evening class maths for beginners.

Ok. I didn't fully understand my award letter last time, @CockneyRebel very kindly worked it out for me.  o:) 
What would people do without this fantastic site!

The amount in the letter which confused me initially was because they will owe me two weeks and it gets me correct with their issue dates. 
This is 28 March-18 April. That's all ok. We haven't got there yet. 

However my award is from the 28 March. My last payment before the award actually starts has been dropped to the new award. Don't DLA owe me the old award if it's all in arrears? 
My ESA has given me a full months pay at the old amount, because the award only started last Wednesday. Two payments were before the start date. 
How come I am getting pip before the award actually started?

    Isn't pip backdated to the date of the claim rather than the award date?

    No in my case its from the date of the award.
    However the reduced payment was issued before that award start date. It  means I have lost one months DLA despite everything being a month in arrears. 

    If they are wrong I will ask them to correct. 
    If I am- that really sucks! Why isn't that challenged anywhere?

    Only in the case of a new claim. When it is a change from DLA to PIP, the DLA should be paid for four weeks following the decision as DLA is paid four weeks in arrears ( In some cases DLA is paid 1 week in advance and three weeks in arrears ) then PIP will commence on the following day

    The payment they gave me a month after the decision date is the dropped amount. So computer error me thinks?

    Same thing happened to hubby with change over from DLA to PIP, lost a months worth.   Wasn't till  he saw his bank statement  he actually realised. Should have said something but he never bothered. But to some losing  a month could jeopardise paying a bill or rent, or mortgage
    .

    The next payment is only for two weeks to get me right with their monthly payment date. 
    They won't pay me fully until May. 

    Definately screwed me over!
